"Carry On My Wayward Son...
There'll Be Peace When
You Are Done...
Lay Your Weary Head To
Rest...
Don't You Cry No More..."
(Kansas)
I remember when we first heard this one. We were "kids" then - teens - I think I was 17 (or so). This was the time of the first bands we were all in, and we all thought "man, if we could ever sound like that someday..." And talk about literally "wearing out" vinyl... Historically, the album has become a "must have" for any serious rock collection. We knew it was going to be upon our first listen... Incidentally, these guys were excellent in concert, too - I saw them several times, and a friend and I met them once, in Providence. Really kewl, easy-going guys...
"Stuttering, cold and
damp
Steal the warm wind tired
friend
Times are gone for honest
men
And sometimes far too
long for snakes
In my shoes, a walking
sleep
And my youth I pray to
keep
Heaven send Hell away
No one sings like you
anymore ..."
(Soundgarden)
