Veteran rocker Al Tavers returns as one of the two original founders of the various phases of Covenstead.
Al has had a career in the local music scene, spanning over 30 years. He's written and recorded for radio
and TV, and has been a key performer in multiple acts, ranging in style from heavy metal to wedding music.
He was the frontman of the locally legendary "Riff Raff " of the late 70s, and in recent years
was one of the principals in the rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar."

Most Memorable Songs:

"Jam 3"  (working title) - (Kevin/ Dave/ Donn/ Al)

Most Memorable Moments:
Too early on to really decide yet. These things really seem to come a lot more to memory somehow when they are in the distant past. That's when you remember the funniest things, I think. For now though, one of the funniest things was when Kevin said this to Al:

"Oh - E minor ... Fuck you, then ..." (dialogue)

02/09/2004  11:11 p.m.

There was the practice where Kevin just started playing "Love Lies Bleeding" by Elton John - which (pleasantly) surprised the hell out of me. I believe we'd actually started working on it after that (to learn it; to do it). There was the time when I had first met Shaun Hague. He'd lived in the next town over, and had come over here with his Dad, actually - who basically patiently sat there while Shaun and I pretty much "auditioned each other" to see if we'd be interested in playing together. I didn't say much, if anything at the time (to "let on," so to speak), but I was already thinking "this 'kid' is f*cking GREAT." Anyhow, it was AFTER this that Shaun took out his acoustic guitar and started playing Zeppelin's "Rain Song" - so EXACTLY that if I'd closed my eyes I could have sworn that Page were in the room. It was a "memorable moment," alright - and I was VERY psyched as to the directions we might take, should Shaun come onboard.

There's NO QUESTION that there will be new phases to the recording part of the project now.
We MAY cull a few songs from previous bands and projects.

For now, here are some links from previous parts of the COVENSTEAD project:

Most Memorable Moments:

Guy at the Benjamin's gig who wouldn't leave Al alone - kept asking him for money, kept asking Al and his friend if they go there often - even after they'd already told him a thousand times that it was the first time they had ever been there, asked Al for his phone number, asked if he could take a shower at Al's house, kept asking Al to "take him for a ride" in his car, and finally ended up telling Al that he wanted to sleep with him ...

( Guess that maybe I shouldn't have been wearing
that "PROVINCETOWN" HAT, huh ...?   Al )
